tower extension to existing dwelling - airlie, by aylth

the client required to extend the existing three bedroom bungalow to meet the demands for more living space from a growing family; the scheme design proposed a two storey circular tower extension with a hallway link between the spaces to create a new main entrance to the property; creating a new living/dining kitchen space on the ground floor and spectacular circular lounge on the first floor allowed space in the existing house to be re-purposed as additional bedrooms

the new circular tower featured full height glazed door to both ground floor kitchen and first floor lounge; the elevated site ensured that these new spaces all have 180 degree panoramic views to the south and west across the vale of strathmore

optional 3D modelling during design development assisted the client in envisaging and understanding the form of the new kitchen and curved stair to the new first floor space - 3D presentation models also assisted in successfully piloting a potentially contentious alterations through the planning approval process.
